Led Zepellin

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

Last night there were 20,000 people that were hands down luckier than the rest of the 6.6 billion poor sods that occupy this planet. They were all found at the O2 Arena in London last night attending what was possibly rock's biggest reunion ever, Led Zepellin's one-off gig dedicated to Ahmet Ertegun (Education Fund), founder of Atlantic and who had as much balls and foresight to first sign them. Read the first dispatches of the gig from the New York Times and Bloomberg.

I wonder what the t-shirt sales (if any) were like that night. Here's a replica from their 1977 US Tour. The image was taken from Evening: Fall Of Day by William Rimmer and it became the logo for Swan Song, the label they set up when their contract with Atlantic expired in 1973 (from The Art of The Band T-Shirt).

Update
Here are some pictures of the t-shirts from the show. Love the typeface and colours especially on the black colorway. As you would imagine, they (together with the program booklet) are going for a pretty penny on eBay.

All this was originally posted on tcritic and that's where you will find the (threadless) t-shirt connection. I'm a fan of Eddie Izzard and that's why this youtube clip is here. Even the all powerful Lord Vader can have a bad day.

Skull T-Shirts

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

What's up with the skull fascination? When I began this I told myself that there will be a skull t-shirt in my line-up. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. But all said and done, none, not mine nor any other label's (in my opinion anyway) will be as iconic as the Misfits skull though it was appropriated from The Crimson Ghost, a 1946 TV show, while the typeface was from the magazine, Famous Monsters of Filmland. What else can I say but that I want one in my closet.

Here is the production sample for the white colorway skull tee.
Almost there except for some changes to the stitching/construction.

250 Max

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

I don't think I've posted this before, but 23PSI tees will have print runs of a maximum of 250 pcs. That means it could be less. In fact the five designs under the Imageneria Oculta line (of which this is the first) will have a run of only 100 pcs. This should work out to approximately to S/15 pcs, M/35 pcs, L/35 pcs, XL/10 pcs and 2XL/5 pcs. The bottom line though is this: 100 or 250 pcs, they won't be reprinted once they are sold out. So smack me across the forehead if I ever do so. At this point in time the last thing I want to do is worry about unsold stock. And I really, really don't want to be doing a 2 for 1 end-of-season sale or anything like it. So this puts the pressure on the design side of things to keep it going which is fine by me.

23PSI on facebook

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

I just created a facebook page for 23PSI. There maybe some duplication with the content here, especially the images. But the major difference is its functionality that is peculiar to facebook. Content is a little thin at the moment, but that should increase over time.

Post Shout It Loud

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

What can I say but that you'll always remember your first sale.
The other thing for me to consider is to perhaps stock some XS sizes.
Such events are also great for doing some t-shirt spotting. Who would have thought, that I would see one of these. I thought a little more about it and decided that perhaps it wasn't so surprising, seeing that it's Threadless.

Skull Test Print

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

I had meant to post this earlier as it was delivered last Friday.
I'm pretty happy with it. The detail is fantastic and they got the colour and size spot on. The only thing left is to get the positioning on the tee right on target.

I'll be here on Sunday helping Joe Kidd man a stall which should be stocked with tees, music, stuff like that from his ricecooker. Hope to see you there too!

23PSI at the ricecooker

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

cuerno de chivo is now available at the ricecooker. I won't go into what the ricecooker is. Just visit it online here or better yet, head over to the shop where the tees (and lots of other indie D-I-Y stuff) are.

Fabric Feedback

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

The earlier post was done in a rush, just to get some pictures of the tees uploaded. I've since had a closer look at them and I'm really pleased with the outcome. Firstly, the tees were custom dyed, cut and sewn and not ready-made blanks. The decision to have them prewashed was good one. They are now preshrunked, so no nasty surprises after the first wash. That means the earlier sizes don't apply any more. I'll post the new measurements after I take a tape to them. Coming back to the fabric, the fully combed 20 thread count fabric now feels even more comfy. Let's see if my first couple of buyers feel the same way too.

AK-47 T-Shirt: Cuerno de Chivo Delivered

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

After a long, long wait, the cuerno de chivo (ak-47) tees were finally delivered today. The online store isn't ready yet and won't be until I've the rest of the designs printed. So sales in earnest will not begin until then (at least for international orders). But drop me a line at 23psi.com@gmail.com if you're interested in owning one at this point in time, wherever you may be.

Hang Tag Pix

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

Sometimes everything looks great on screen and then you get let down when it goes to production. Well, this isn't one of those situations. I'm really pleased with the tags. In fact, I feel kind of sad that these will probably be binned soon after the tee is taken out of the paper bag. But what the heck. Every tee needs a hang tag, and if I have anything to do with it, I'd do it in a way that I'd be happy with as if I'm the buyer. As for the tees, cuerno de chivo will probably be delivered tomorrow.

Hang Tags Ready

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

I just picked up the hang tags from the printer this morning, all 1,000 pieces.
And I'm really pleased with them. 360gm art card die cut with matte lamination on both sides. They did a good job. I will post a pix as soon as I'm able to.

I know it's a Sunday, but tomorrow they go to the t-shirt printer who will then tag them to the tees before they're packed. I hope to also finalise the colourways for the other designs tomorrow.

Production Sample In

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

In view of the doubts that exist in the minds of some of the readers of this blog (you know who you are ;-)), I want to say that 23PSI is for real and not something that I'm setting up only to abandon somewhere down the road. Fact is, I've been having some problems with my printer and this has been the main cause of the delay.

Anyways, I got the production sample of cuerno de chivo this past Saturday and it's pretty much up to scratch in terms of the fabric. It's more substantial than the standard AA tee and soft to boot because it's fully combed and pre-washed. What's being addressed now is the positioning of the design (which has undergone a minor change) and when that's sorted, will go to print. I expect to take delivery end of this week. So pix of the tees will have to wait until then.

Hours of Unknown Pleasures

Update: There will be no further posts on blogger. Please go to 23psi.com.

Sjors of shirtlog first posted this awesome design by Hecklewood. I love it. It's trippy. Feels as if I could stare at it for hours, just like this design on Joy Division's tee which is the artwork of their album 'Unknown Pleasures'.
